And So It Begins…

21 Weeks

Hey there 21 weeks – where did you come from?  Baby girl is 10.5 inches long, the size of a banana, according to the bump.  Also, she has all her eggs.  Yea, it is a slow week on the developmental front, not much going on besides getting huge.  We are more than halfway done with this pregnancy, and only have 19 more weeks until we welcome little BTG (B-ron THE GIRL) into the world.  So, you know, time to start the nursery!  Okay, I have big plans for this space.  To give you an idea of where we are now, here is the nursery BEFORE:

Not a Nursery

Yea, it is Brent’s man-space/office, where he plays video games and watches soccer (I made him straighten up pre-photo), but soon it will be the girliest area of the house.  Here is my room inspiration:

Pic from Project Nursery

Yea, I’m not shying away from the pink and the bright colors.  I want to go look at paint colors at Home Depot this weekend, and Brent and I are also planning on replacing the blinds with shutters, installing a ceiling fan and possibly replacing the carpet.  The cats have, uh, soiled the room in a few places, so it might be best for BTG if we give her a sanitary space in which to start her life.  I guess.  I also was waffling on the ceiling fan, because it costs a TON to do the installation (there is no electrical on the ceiling as-is) but then I read that a fan helps prevent SIDS.  Ugh, SIDS, just mention that your product helps prevent it and I’m already adding it to the registry.  Anyway, the room prep is probably going to cost more than the furniture/decor.  Boo.

So back to the fun stuff.  As you can see in the pic above, nursery colors are aqua, baby pink, fuchsia and lime green.  We’re going to use those colors (hah – WE – as if Brent has any say) in conjunction with a bird theme.  Thus, the bedding from Pottery Barn Kids that I fell in love with before we even know that BTG was TG:

How perfect is that?  We’ll also be doing white furniture (dresser, bookcase, crib) and I reallllllly want to get a glider for those long nights nursing BTG, but we’ll see if the budget allows (what budget?).  Also, I am putting this out there now – we are planning on having a TV in the nursery so mama can watch her stories while baby is eating.  We even got a DVR in there to make it happen – this is going to easily be the nicest room in the house when we are done.  I have already found the cute tree decal you see up there on Etsy, and I’ve even found that bird painting on the right wall for $160(!).  Yea, that is more than we have spent on ANY “artwork” we have around the house so uh, no thank you.  I just have to learn to paint before December.  Is all.

Anyway, those are the ambitious plans, I’ll try to update the progress and hope we finish before we go broke or Brent loses his mind.  Whichever comes first!

It’s totally beautiful. Bright colors are so fun! Your nursery is gonna be amazing. Let me know if you need or just want a little help. There are few things I love more than decorating. Babies would be one of them, so it’s just the perfect combo. Have fun! Brent’s gonna love that girlie room whether he believes it or not.
